(3) The Aircon

 The Aircon
By: toot

I like the Aircon, it's makes us cold
And the computers cold too.
But too much cold is bad
I don't like too much cold

Aircons are essential to people during hot days; when you need to cool off and also to the computers. But sometimes, aircons try to kill people. Like me and my friends who are at the back part of the computer laboratory (near the aircon). Every period, we experience the torture of the air around us. I feel like the lab. is turning into a snowy place. The hardest part is when there is an activity which you need to do fast. My hands are freezing and I can't type properly.

In behalf of the people who also experience these things, we would like to have a request of turning the temperature a little bit higher in the com. sci. laboratory. Thank you.

(3) Where do astronauts hang out?

The keyboard is an important part of the computer. It inputs data . Without it, people may also be unable to use the computer.

Keyboards are important but annoying when they're broken.

There's this keyboard in the Com. Sci. lab which I'm annoyed at. It has a broken spacebar. It's annoying to use especially when you are in a hurry.

Also, one time, I was typing so fast. When I was finished, I noticed that the 3's in my formula is missing. So I had to look again and find where I am supposed to type the missing numbers.

Sometimes, the computer gets weird.

Where do astronauts hang out? at the SPACEBAR!

(3) Another beggining

So it's third quarter! School's going to end in less than 5 months. Time really goes fast.I can't wait to be on vacation for 2 months again. But before relaxing, I still have many things to do before the AY ends: periodical exams, achievement test and CLEARANCE.

So I'm quite going out of the topic. What I want to say in this post is that, since we are beginning a new quarter, of course there is a new topic which is the Microsoft Excel.

I never thought that Excel I going to be quite challenging. The formulas make it complicated. Also, there is memorization involved and I admit, I HATE MEMORIZING period. My brain just can't register new things into itself when it's not in the mood.

After a few activities, slowly, I finally understood it.

Third quarter is going to end in less than 1 month but I there are still many thing to learn in CS 1. I hope that my brain will agree with this too.

(3) Little Things (not the song)

Macro, that's in photography right? When you take a picture of something small.

Well, in computer science, there are also macros.

A macro is a shortcut for repeating actions in MS Excel. This is an essential tool because it makes work easier and faster and especially to people who want to save time just like the members of the Energy Savers Club (special mention: Cj Bercasio, the founder and president. Haha)

Making a macro is just like counting 1, 2, 3. First, enable the use of macros in your workbook (or Excel File). Then, go to the view tab and click macros. Click "Use relative sources" first before making a new macro. Then, do the magic.

This is an awesome tool. You don't need to do something repeatedly. Less energy in making your excel file, more time to sleep and eat.

(3) No Teacher Week

Last week, some teachers weren't around, including Sir Tom. For us to do something while he was away, he left an exercise in Moodle about using Excel. It was easy for me because all I need to do was type the formula and then press enter. But the thing that made me annoyed was every time I type the wrong formula and I can't find what's wrong in it. But I'm still thankful that I was able to finish it two days early.

I featured Adventure Time characters in my submission. Jake's and Finn's grades were exactly the same because they copied each other. Princess Blubblegum's grade was perfect because of an obvious reason (if you watch Adventure Time) Beemo's (my brother) grade was the same since he is a machine.  Okay I sound retarded.

(3) Broom Broom

Sometimes, I mean always, the formulae is complicated but the answer is simple. Making formulas was the "most-nosebleeding" topic for the third quarter. Kulang lang ng parenthesis, mali agad. Hay.

"There is bad in good. There in good in bad" is the meaning of Yin-Yang. Excel formulas also have advantages despite its ability to make my nose bleed. When calculating the average, sum, etc. , you just need to enter the cell reference number of the data you want to calculate, enter aand you're done.

Racecar. Haha. Nice sir.

(3) Three

I like Com. Sci but I don't like the quizzes and long tests. Yes they are easy. Easy for the people who have complete notes. -.- I know Moodle is there but when there is a quiz the day after, I don't have access to Moodle so I just stay with my incomplete notes. If only I've got to go home everyday just like in elementary. (huhu)

It all changed in the first LT of the 3rd quarter. I wasn't able to study that much because of my lack of notes but (tadah) I only got 3 items wrong. Okay, maybe I'm overreacting but for me, three mistakes is good in a 20+ item test.

Yay.

Sir, 1.25 does exist.

(3) Buttered Chicken Inasal

We had a group activity in making charts. Our groupings were according to the number assigned to each one of us.

I was grouped with Yna and GB.

Destinyyyy. Yie. (Sorry Yna. haha)

So, our task was to make a chart of the data of a certain country like the population and the birth and death rate. We chose Canada because GB chose it. So technically, GB chose it. I let GB do the typing stuff 'cause he was a fast typer. We used my Moodle account to submit. Our submission was days early because GB wanted to finish it already. It looked like sheet. I don't know if it really looked like that but based on my standards, it is.

Well, there's a verb called move-on and that's what I'm gonna do.

(3) Super complicated, extraordinary game

(Thanks Alea for helping me have an idea for this post)

Before, I defined MS Excel as s boring, mainstream, for a  formal office document program. I never knew that excel could be also be fun.

Right after we were taught about macros (Macros, yung maraming mga cross. ha.. ha..), Sir Tom had an additional activity where we need to make a game using macros and even conditional formatting. His example was a minesweeper game which used both of the tools I mentioned earlier. When it was our turn to make a game, I couldn't think of an "awesome" game because of the aircon torturing me (aircon, why u tryin to kill me?). 30 mins. left, 15 mins. left, 10 mins. left! Oh Glob. That's when I decided to make a simple game that requires less effort. I made a super complicated and challenging called, "THE MAZE" featuring the land of Ooo and Finn and Jake. Then, submit!

Then when I opened it, the macros didn't work.
I forgot to enable the use of macros.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Sir, 1.75 does not exist.

(3) This post is quite "CHART"

Alam mo yung chart? Diba yun yung maiksi? "chart"

Ok. Haha.

Charts represent data. As simple as that. We've been making charts since grade school . Before, we made charts on paper. We still needed to use a protractor, compass and other measuring instruments to make our charts accurate. Now, we already make charts in Excel.

Making charts the MS Excel is easy. First, you need to select the table containing the data you want to represent. Then click the "insert" tab and choose the appropriate kind of chart you want to use.

There are different kinds of chart in Excel:

  • pie chart shows percentage values as a slice of a pie.
  • line chart is a two-dimensional scatterplot of ordered observations where the observations are connected following their order.
  • column chart is a chart with rectangular bars with lengths proportional to the values that they represent. The bars can be plotted vertically or horizontally.
Other types of charts are radar, bubble, doughnut, stock, etc.

Just remember to put the correct data in the chart.
